Counselling and Psychotherapy: Biographical Counselling

Most people confront life crisis, illness or uncertainty in their lives. A sense of meaning may be lost and the inner source of creative potential can no longer be accessed. There may be a longing to improve relationships. Out of these often painful experiences, people increasingly have a need to understand themselves and the events in their lives more clearly and to gain insights that can help them discern what is truly important in their lives.

Biographical counselling employs conversation, artistic and personal biographical research processes with the counsellor's guidance. Insight can be gained into the universal laws underlying human development in body, soul and spirit, providing the basis for understanding what unique issues and tasks are attempting to emerge in a particular individual's life. Psychological, social and spiritual aspects are taken into account and both past and present circumstances are explored from many different points of view. Different life phases and their interrelationships are also considered. This groundwork creates a space in which the fullness of a human biography can be explored and affirmed. This process has the potential to bring renewed strength and confidence, empowering each individual to take on their lives in a new way and to shape their own path of growth and development.
